30 Day Song Challenge day 19 – a song from your favorite album. This is an impossible one so I am going to have to cheat and narrow this down to a song from my favorite 80’s british neo-rab album. I can honestly say this album changed the way I thought about the genre.
Month: June 2011
30 Day Song Challenge day 18 – a song that you wish you heard on the radio Dave Edmunds King Of Love. How great would it be to hop in your car, turn her over and pull out onto the road with this blasting? Also, everyone in America should know who Dave is…..well in my idealistic view anyways : )
30 Day Song Challenge day 17 – a song that you hear often on the radio. Before switching to satellite radio, or internet radio or just using an MP3 player and I was listening to the radio for a while, I remember this song was unstoppable, I could not get away from it, and trust me I tried. Truth be told, I like Green Day, but this song was played out so much for me on local radio that I don’t think I will ever like it.
30 Day Song Challenge day 16 – a song that you used to love but now hate Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay Otis Redding. OK, now before you kind people kill me, I ask you to lower your slings and arrows. This one is a bit of a cheat. Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE Otis! Otis Redding is one of my top 3 favorite singers, at times he is probably my all time favorite singer. Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay is also a great song, so why put it in the category? Why the hate? I hate that if you asked the entire populace who Otis Redding was less than one out of every ten people would. And out of the people that do know who Otis is, I guarantee less than 1 percent would be able to name another Otis tune. I am going to stop know, before I really tirade against people….
30 Day Song Challenge day 15 – a song that describes you I Got By In Time by The Jam. There is a certain genre of song that I am very much attracted to, I call them “Life Songs” these are usually songs written from a point of looking back and taking stock. My Way and When I Was 17 by Frank Sinatra, In My Life by The Beatles are all perfect examples to me. Well so is this rocker from The Jam. Anyways, as I consider myself a reflective person, I have associated myself with this song for many years.
30 Day Song Challenge day 14 – a song that no one would expect you to love Always Yours by Gary Glitter. If it wasn’t for the “I know, you know” parts this would be a PERFECT song. there, I said it. I don’t care who knows, I love this song and have played it more times then I could count. And really, nobody here is really guilty….well except Gary that is.
30 Day Song Challenge day 13 – a song that is a guilty pleasure We Like To party. I know I said I don’t believe in guilt pleasures when it comes to any artform. But even I have to wonder what I am thinking with some of my tastes…
30 Day Song Challenge day 12 – a song from a band you hate. Well an Artist I just can’t get into anyways. I am sorry people, I know he is a masterful songwriter. Burt just bores me to tears!

30 Day Song Challenge day 10 – a song that makes you fall asleep Into The Night Julee Cruise. In High School I was obsessed with Twin Peaks. Dale Cooper was my hero, as simple as that. I remember buying Julee Cruise’s Floating Into The Night album. That album and Del Shannon’s Rock On album were my soundtracks as I made money working for the newspaper during my high school years. I would spend every evening going door to door in the well to do neighborhoods around Austin. Anyways, enough preamble. I bought this album at Blockbuster music on Ben White, no longer there, put it on that night as I fell to sleep. Then something happened during the end of the song that I will never forget. Needless to say, don’t try to fall asleep to this
30 Day Song Challenge day 09 – a song that you can dance to Yeh Yeh by Georgie Fame. Put the record on, cook a nice pasta dinner, dance all the while, repeat…
